Wearing back support can relieve pain

By Ricky William at 2010-12-15 02:45:17

There may be many reasons you suffer from lower back pain, including having a muscle spasm, or muscle sprain. Often times, people overwork their muscles, at the gym or on the job, and never give it an opportunity to heal correctly. Without effective treatment, a temporary soreness can turn into a constant pain. Additionally, aging and weight gain are two prominent factors that can have a dramatic negative impact on the spine. Sometimes, chronic back pain is a direct result of how you carry yourself. Converting bad posture to good posture while standing, sitting or at rest can be an effective way of eliminating stress and tension on your spinal column. This can have an effect of reducing or diminishing specific chronic back pain.

Providing muscle support for your entire body reduces stress and pressure of your spine. Building up and strengthening muscle mass in your quads, pelvic muscles, spinal muscles, glutes, abdominal muscles and calves relieves tension on the spinal column. Transferring the support system to other areas of your body indirectly strengthens your back relieving pain caused by excessive workload. Whiplash is a hyperextension (over-extension) injury to the neck, often the result of being struck from behind, as by a fast-moving vehicle in a car accident. The mechanics of whiplash injury are thought to be as follows: The victim may be first pushed or accelerated forward, pushing the body forward, but the head remains behind momentarily, rocking up and back, and some muscles and ligaments may be stretched or torn.

Chiropractors will perform adjustments to the spine to correct vertebral subluxations thus releasing pressure on the nerves. Nerves in the neck supply the shoulders, arms, wrists and hands, as well as the blood supply to the brain, scalp, hair, eyes, ears, face, mouth, jaw, tonsils, voice, thyroid, and most importantly the heart and lungs. A bad fall, accidents or lifting heavy objects incorrectly can be aggravated even further by poor posture and work habits and sometimes all that is needed is some natural chiropractic care to allow the nervous system to function properly again. There are various techniques on offer for the young and old, most of which are low force and gentle on the body.

Most ball chairs come without a back rest which at first may feel a little unnatural, especially if you have spent years sitting in a traditional office chair. Although it may seem like sitting in a backless chair may be more harmful than beneficial, this actually helps remind the user to sit with proper posture and slouching or slumping over becomes more apparent. The vertebral column is a hollow tube made of small bones called vertebrae; the spinal cord is ensconced in this bony tube. The vertebral column is under constant pressure caused due to the gravitational force. When bad posture and sedentary life style or even physical activities that cause vertebral strain are added to the equation, things quickly escalate.

Isthmic Spondylolisthesis is a spinal disorder caused due to instability of the vertebral column where one vertebrae slips over the other. The condition commonly occurs in the fifth and sixth vertebrae of the lumbar region and the first vertebrae in the sacral area.
